About Me

Hi, I’m Dion George Thompson, but you can call me Dion. Originally from Florence, SC, I grew up in Charlotte, NC, and my connection to the area is strong. I went to First Ward Elementary, then East Way Middle School, and finally graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 2022.

Basketball has always been a big part of my life. I played for PAL (Police Activities League) and did AAU traveling basketball. Even though I briefly tried football in PAL, basketball was where my heart was. From age 7 to 18, basketball was a huge part of my world.
As I moved from elementary to middle school, I took a break from basketball in my freshman year of high school to focus on understanding life. In my sophomore year, I started training hard with Coach Cody, a great AAU coach. He not only taught me discipline but also emphasized taking care of my overall health.

In my senior year, despite suggestions to play football, track, and basketball, I decided to join the Navy. But I faced unexpected academic challenges. Instead of settling, I enrolled at CPCC and ended up at Livingstone College through a lucky meeting with Mr. Benton, a college recruiter.

A regular job and settling for less don’t appeal to me. I’ve seen people give up on their dreams, but I’m committed to success in the real estate industry. It’s not just about deals; it’s also about building connections in my community. I’m putting in 150% effort to shape a prosperous future, using these years as a foundation for realizing my dreams.

Looking ahead, I know that actions speak louder than words. With unwavering commitment, I’m turning my aspirations into tangible accomplishments.

I’m currently studying criminal justice at Livingstone College, and what got me interested in this field is not just the law, but all the different types of laws, especially how they vary from state to state each year. It’s important to me that people know about and understand the laws that affect them in their communities.

Looking ahead to life after college, I’m really interested in going into law enforcement, with a specific goal of becoming a U.S. Federal Marshal. The reason behind this dream comes from realizing that people in influential positions can make a big impact on young people. I learned this firsthand through my involvement in PAL (Police Activities League), where local police officers acted as mentors and almost like father figures to kids, helping to keep them on the right path.

I believe that being part of law enforcement, especially as a U.S. Federal Marshal, gives me a chance to guide young minds, teaching them about right and wrong, showing them the consequences of bad choices, and demonstrating the rewards of making positive decisions in life.

My inspiration to become a U.S. Federal Marshal comes from wanting to understand why people choose the paths they do, regardless of the potential good or bad outcomes. While I’m not interested in chasing down armed individuals, my focus is on contributing to the greater good through bravery, personal growth, and teamwork. My time in PAL really influenced this goal, showing me the positive impact that law enforcement can have on people’s lives.

I had a standout sophomore year and even won the Coach of the Year award. But things changed when Coach Fitch, who believed in me, got replaced. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, making it tough to play basketball. I couldn’t afford a trainer, so I used my driveway to practice and worked at Burger King to make ends meet.

Junior year brought less passion for basketball and less playing time. The final playoff game made me realize I was losing my love for the game.

In my senior year, despite suggestions to play football, track, and basketball, I decided to join the Navy. However I faced unexpected academic challenges. Instead of settling, I enrolled at CPCC and ended up at Livingstone College through a lucky meeting with Mr. Benton, a college recruiter.

Arriving at the campus of Livingstone College ignited a sense of anticipation and introspection within me, catalyzing my quest for a sustainable career path. It was through delving into the realm of real estate wholesaling that I unearthed my genuine passion. Now, as I commence my sophomore year, I eagerly welcome the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, weaving the threads of my past experiences into the evolving tapestry of my present journey.
